Celebrate Manchester Day this Sunday with Great Northern!

Posted: 24th July 2026

Great Northern is gearing up for a packed weekend of live music, family activities and terrace parties, with this year’s Manchester Day celebrations taking centre stage on Sunday 26 July.

Inspired by Catalan culture, Manchester Day’s annual parade will make its way from St Peter’s Square along Peter Street before passing Great Northern and continuing down Deansgate, bringing thousands of spectators into the city centre.

To mark the occasion, Great Northern will host free entertainment throughout the day. From 12.30pm to 3pm, an acoustic singer will perform Manchester classics in the square, while Little Northerners takes over the amphitheatre from 12pm to 4pm with a Spanish-themed family play session. Expect piñatas, colourful fans and plenty of free-play fun in the sandpit, giving younger visitors a chance to join in with the day’s Mediterranean-inspired celebrations.

Visitors can also take part in the new Meet the Mancs competition, hunting down life-size cardboard cut-outs of some of the city’s best-known faces hidden across Great Northern’s venues. Keep an eye out for Noel and Liam Gallagher, Aitch, Bugzy Malone, Mark Owen, Gail Platt, Brian Cox, Michelle Keegan and Ian Brown, then snap a creative selfie, share it on Instagram or Facebook, tag @GNWManchester and use #MeetTheMancs for the chance to win £100 to spend at participating Great Northern venues.
