Visit Great Northern Square over the summer and check out our two giant bees as part of the city-wide Bee in the City public art trail.
Firstly meet ‘A City Transformed’ created by artist Helen Russell Creations. You can find her in our main square. Find out all about Helen’s inspiration for the bee here.
Great Northern Square is also home to a second Bee, Agnes Bee-den Powell, created by Jodie Silverman based on designs from the Manchester Girl Guiding community. Members were asked to describe what they love most about being part of Girlguiding and what it means to them. The result is Agnes, inspired by Agnes Baden-Powell, founder of the Girl Guide Association in the UK in 1910. She reflects the array of activities available as well as the values they hold, and those which Girlguiding develops.
Bee sure to download the Bee in the City app and follow the trail, when you visit our bees you can tap in their codes to your app to access rewards from our brands.
