Manchester Folk Festival, the only festival dedicated to promoting and supporting new English folk and acoustic music returns to the city from 18 – 21 October 2018.
There will be over 15 gigs and workshops across some of Manchester’s most loved institutions including HOME, Gorilla, The Ritz and The Great Northern Warehouse.
Great Northern will play host to Eliza Carthy and The Wayward Band on Friday 19th October. Eliza Carthy and The Wayward Band will be supported by award-winning British singer, songwriter and guitarist, Blair Dunlop.
If there is one musician who embodies the dynamism and vitality of the current English folk revival, it’s Eliza Carthy. Admired by traditionalists and modernists alike, Eliza’s trailblazing contribution for the past 25 years has influenced a whole generation of young musicians and earned her an MBE for services to music. She’s toured and recorded with a dazzling array of artists and in every conceivable form, but in 2013, Eliza fulfilled one of her ambitions by assembling The Wayward Band, a prodigiously talented group of 12 musicians from around the UK.
