GRIMMFEST is one of the UK’s leading festivals of horror, sci-fi, extreme fantasy & cult film. Their 10th anniversary edition takes place 4 – 7th October 2018 at the ODEON Manchester Great Northern, UK, with a Preview Night taking place on Monday 1st October at the Plaza Cinema, Stockport.
Guest of honour this year is genre legend Barbara Crampton, who will open the festival with a special screening of Stuart Gordon’s cult classic RE-ANIMATOR.
Grimmfest are also delighted to be welcoming back a number of talented filmmakers who’ve shared their work with Manchester’s audiences over the past decade. Rob Grant (FAKE BLOOD, MON AMI) presents the outrageous shocker, ALIVE. Johnny Kevorkian (THE DISAPPEARED), returns with AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. Chad Archibald (ANTISOCIAL) brings gothic noir I’LL TAKE YOUR DEAD and the trio behind TURBO KID bring us SUMMER OF ’84. Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund (WITHER) offer us 2 films: future cult classic PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH, and the World Premiere of short film, MYSTERY BOX. Joko Anwar (MODUS ANOMALI) also makes a comeback, with Indonesian box office smash SATAN’S SLAVES.
Other Premieres include Daniel Robbins’ PLEDGE, Olivier Afonso’s GIRLS WITH BALLS, Clayton Jacobson’s BROTHERS’ NEST, Lin Oeding’s OFFICE UPRISING and Marc Martínez Jordán’s FRAMED. We’ll also see Aislinn Clarke’s THE DEVIL’S DOORWAY, Andy Mitton’s THE WITCH IN THE WINDOW, Issa López’s TIGERS ARE NOT AFRAID and Bradford Baruh’s DEAD NIGHT, starring special guest Barbara Crampton. Don’t miss the UK premiere of NIGHTMARE CINEMA, the much-anticipated horror anthology from a gamut of genre giants including Joe Dante, Mick Garris & David Slade, and starring Mickey Rourke.
All this plus a brutal brace of short film programmes, with a focus on female creators, and a 10thanniversary screening of SPLINTERED. Christmas zombie musical extravaganza ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE will close the festival and is guaranteed to send you off dancing into the night!
There’ll be plenty of directors and stars on hand for photos, signings and Q&As about their work, and be sure to check out the Festival Hub in the Odeon foyer where you’ll find tons of horror goodies and merchandise on sale.
Hardcore horror fans can purchase full festival or day passes allowing wider access to the programme of screenings and events, or individual film tickets can be picked up for just £8 full price / £6.50 concession.
