Now in its ninth year, the theme for this year’s parade is ‘The Word on the Street’, celebrating all of the pioneering work that has come from our city – from the Suffragettes to the industrial revolution.
It’s estimated that some 2,000 performers and artists from across the region help to bring the event to life, as it parades through the city centre, right past the Great Northern.
This year’s route will begin at 1pm on Liverpool Road. From here, it will travel up Deansgate for a short distance before heading down Peter Street and around the back of the stunning Central Library.
The procession will then head past Albert Square and the iconic town hall, back to Deansgate, and through Exchange Square, before finishing at Cathedral Gardens near Victoria train station. It’s expected to finish at 3pm.

Great Northern is the perfect spot to watch the parade go by, enjoy a few drinks and a bite to eat.
