Manchester Jazz Festival and Forsyth’s music shop are back and on the hunt for Manchester’s most entertaining street pianist as a trail of 14 freely accessible treet pianos are placed across the city this week – including on on our very Deansgate Mews.
From 18 April – 26 May 2024, the MJF Piano Trail will see pianos dotted throughout Manchester available for all passers-by to play.
For those who think they can give Elton John a run for his money, the competition to find Manchester’s best street pianists will feature whole raft of prizes up for grabs including a Yamaha P145 piano.
Technical talent or formal training is not necessary, and the competition is open to all from concert pianists to the occasional ivory-tickler.
How to Enter
1) Film yourself (2 minutes maximum) playing a song of your choosing, including original compositions, at any of the 14 Piano Trail venues across town.
2) Upload your musical creation to your Facebook, Instagram or X Feed. For entries to be considered, please make sure to tag mjf (@manchesterjazzfestival @manjazzfest) and use the hashtag #mjfpianotrail2024
3) The competition closes at midnight on Sunday 26 May 2024
4) Sit back, relax and wait for the winners to be announced at the beginning of July.
