Great Northern’s newest bar, Impossible, brings an exciting new concept to Manchester nightlife.
The Theatre Of Impossible is set to bring a whole new way to party to Manchester’s nightlife scene with a concept that blends theatre and performance with a variant to the usual traditional DJ led nightclub.
Aaron Mellor is the MD of Tokyo Industries, the UK’s largest privately owned nightclub operator, with 36 of the UK’s coolest bars, clubs and music festivals behind itself but is trying to create something very different to what is fast becoming Manchester’s coolest street.
Aaron Mellor’s latest venture is a product of international experience in Las Vegas, New York and more recently Ibiza. “The aim is to take everything we have learnt and experienced putting on nights in London, Ibiza and New York and build a new experience which taps into the unique Manchester attitude and give people something they will really love, smoothing more performance than nightclub.”
“It’s quirky and a little left of centre, inspired by music, fashion, music and art. We aim to combine our love of clubbing, music and fashion to create a very unique experience for an older more traveled customer.”
Mellor continues “The last two seasons we’ve been working on a joint venture project with Cirque Du Soleil and super chefs Albert and Ferran Adrià called ‘HEART’ in Ibiza – for HEART we created a new concept ‘Boogie In Wonderland’ a kickback against Ibiza’s more dance based experience, set around the mystery and extravagance of Studio54 mixing music, fashion and art under a 7o’s disco influence. We visited friends in New York running this crazy ass Brooklyn club called ‘House of Yes’, we hooked up some of the DJs and performers from London’s infamous ‘ The Box’ and thought actually where does the 25+ market in Manchester actually want to hang out. The word ‘Nightclub’ seems a little too 1990s for 2017, so we started to re-think more theatre… Sharing some of the global network of friends we’d happened to lock in with, something more immersive and more ‘theatre’ than your usual late night hang out.”
‘Boogie In Wonderland’ arrives weekly Fridays to Manchester with some pretty magical guests promised if the Ibiza version of the night is anything to go by… Giorgio Moroder, Cerrone, Francois K, Jellybean and The Reflex all rank on the credit list.
Saturdays – London’s infamous ‘CASA LOCA’ will see guests enjoy entertainment all night long with live theatrical shows, choreographed dancers and an animation team of characters who come to life and become part of the crowd in turn making the crowd part of the show.
To compliment the entertainment and bring the space alive within the Manchester community the team is also looking to work with local artists to create bespoke exhibitions and installations.
