Running until 4th September, Watch this Space – a collaborative project between Great Northern Warehouse and Dez Rez Projects – will host the work of Manchester-based artist Freya Wysocki and her art collective, TV Babies.
Initially, Wysocki’s work will be on display in the 285 Deansgate window. Her art draws on folklore, surrealism and cartoons in a wry but fierce challenge to modern gender norms.
From 18th August, TV Babies – a creative collective consisting of Wysocki, Charlotte Simmons and Jennifer Hanns – take over the entire shop, filling the space with immersive installations and ‘portals to worlds full of bizarre, new rituals’. In a one-off participatory statement on the commodification of image, TV Babies will close their residency with ‘Food of the Gods’, a dining experience in which visitors will eat green jellies which, using green-screen technology, become different pictures on their plate.
